Chassell Classic Ski Trail Logo
The Chassell Classic Ski Trail is the result of Jim Tervo's vision to have a perfect classic skiing experience. He began in 1981 with a snowmobile, a pallet, and a track setter along with 4 km of trail that started and ended through the Chassell Cemetery. The trail and grooming equipment have evolved greatly since then. Around 1990 a 1987 Polaris Long Track was acquired and the Tidd Tech drag that's still in use was purchased around the same time. The trail also expanded to around 8 km at that time. The trail has evolved with little changes nearly every summer and is nearly 10km with the upper 4 km usually being skiable on the first snow of the season due to the picking of rocks and planting of grass. The trail is groomed every day there is significant snowfall and is done by daylight. Please use the trail and if you enjoy it consider buying a season trail pass from the Keweenaw Trails website at keweenawtrails.com or leave a donation in the pipe in the trailhead parking lot.
