Located in Calumet, Michigan, the Swedetown cross country ski trails offer more than 30 km of groomed ski and snowshoe trails. With an average snowfall of more than 250 inches per year, we enjoy a long ski season, usually beginning the first of December and sometimes lasting well into April.

The Swedetown trail system is known for quality grooming and something for every level of skier. For 2009, more lights have been added on the trails this year. We now have 5km of trails that
are lit until 10pm every night and the Bear Chase loop has been rerouted (see map).

  • 30 km beginner to expert trails groomed daily for skating and classic skiing
  • 5km of trails lighted until 10 pm
  • More than 7km of snowshoing on two loops
  • Beautiful chalet with snack bar and groomed sledding hill
  • Host to the Great Bear Chase ski race--always two weeks after the Birkie.

Groups are always welcome at Swedetown. If you have an out-of-town or other special group larger than 15 planning to use the trails, please contact us at (906) 337-1170, so we can help provide an excellent skiing experience.

After you've skiied Swedetown, try the Michigan Tech Trails in Houghton.

The Copper Island Cross Country Ski Club maintains the Swedetown trails
in cooperation with Calumet Township.
