The Great Bear Chase

Calumet is located
in the Keweenaw Peninsula, in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
With an average snowfall of 240 inches, the area boasts a long and
consistent ski season.
The main routes
to the area are US-41 from the east, M-26 from the west, and US-141
and US-45 from the south.

All of the Bear
Chase venues are located near each other.
Cross Country
Sports, where registration takes place on Saturday and bib pick-up
on Saturday and Sunday, is in downtown Calumet.
The Swedetown
trails are less than a mile south of Calumet. The heated chalet
has space for waxing and is the registration/bib pickup site on
Friday. The chalet is also headquarters for the Junior Bear Chase
on Saturday.

their Web site. Nearby Houghton and Hancock have a number of affiliates

a number of bed and breakfasts in Calumet/Laurium and Houghton/Hancock.
