Day-of-event registration available for the Copper Loppet and the Copper Island Classic -- see chart below. Freestyle races traversing all of the Michigan Tech Trails, classic races on one of the best classic-only tracks around, and a chance to give your doggies a whirl -- all are part of the new Keweenaw Nordic Festival. Enter the Paradise Pursuit and ski both the 13km Copper Loppet and 10km Copper Island Classic. The KNF will also host a Great Lakes Division Junior Olympics qualifier on both days. Copper Loppet - 13km and 26km - Saturday, January 16 at noon - traversing the entire length of the Tech Trails, including the Nara and Lower trails. You can choose either a 13 km (one loop) or 26 km distance. TalviTohinat Skijor - Saturday, January 16 at 12:30 - one-dog and two-dog races starting at the MTU softball fields. Paradise Pursuit - Saturday and Sunday, January 16-17 - Go for the braggin' rights for both races - the 13km Copper Loppet on Saturday and the 10km Copper Island Classic on Sunday. We'll combine your times to crown the pursuit winners. Prizes and stuff! Library Restaurant catered feed Saturday available for all racers at the facility at the Nara trailhead just east of Houghton on US-41 Copper Island Classic - Sunday, January 17 - 12:50 p.m. at the Chassell Trails, with a choice of 2km (youth), 5km and 10km distances Junior Olympic Qualifier both days - Great Lakes skiers will be trying to qualify for the Junior Olympics.
